Follador launches premium Prosecco range in travel retail

ITALY. Italian sparkling wine producer Follador is launching its premium range of award-winning Prosecco Valdobbiadene wines into travel retail.

As a specialist in Prosecco, with a tradition dating back to the 18th century, Follador said it aims to enhace the gifting offer for this variety of sparkling wine within travel retail.

The company has appointed World of Patria to represent the brand within the category and will be exhibiting for the first time at this year’s TFWA World Exhibition (Stand number: Blue Village G13).

“The timing is absolutely perfect to launch Follador into travel retail,” said Follador Managing Director Anthony Franklin. “The wine category generally in travel retail is on an upward curve, particularly for premium varieties, while at the same time the interest in Prosecco has been growing year on year. We are the first company to introduce a premium selection of Prosecco to the travel retail market in a gift-tube format and believe the potential for the brand is significant.”

The region of Prosecco di Conegliano-Valdobbiadene – where the Follador family has been making wine since the 18th century – was granted DOCG status in 2010.

For travel retail, Follador has selected four Prosecco Valdobbiadene varieties:
• Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG Cuvee “˜Torri di Credazzo’ Extra Dry – the flagship of the brand’s most superior varietals
• Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore Di Cartizze DOCG – a fine sparking wine named after the area where the grapes are cultivated
• Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG Millesimato Brut
• Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG Millesimato Extra Dry

Follador has selected four Prosecco Valdobbiadene varieties for travel retail, with prices starting from £19

For travel retail the wines are presented in an illustrated four-colour printed tube. Prices will start around £19 (€24) with the gift box.

“Pricing is extremely reasonable for a premium quality Prosecco; this is not just another sparkling wine but a true quality product that would take pride of place in any consumer’s wine portfolio,” added Franklin.

Follador Marketing Director Cristina Follador said: “We recognise the time is now right to establish our brand internationally and travel retail presents us with the perfect shop window to do this. Prosecco is the very essence of Follador and we are totally committed to producing the most excellent wines in its class.

“Similarly we have a strong commitment to travel retail and are very excited about the future. We are very pleased to be exhibiting at TFWA World Exhibition for the first time this year, which is the premier event in which to showcase our brands.”

Follador invites delegates of TFWA World Exhibition to have a glass or two of Prosecco on the stand daily from 1730 hours. The company will be hosting a tasting evening at the Plage du Festival Restaurant on Wednesday 21 September (by invitation only).
