Gamucci to open electronic cigarette ‘vaping zone’ at London Heathrow

UK. Gamucci is set to open what it claims will be the first area in an airport for travellers using electronic cigarettes, with a “˜vaping zone’ in Terminal 4 at London Heathrow Airport.

The electronic cigarette manufacturer will open the Gamucci Electronic Cigarette Zone on 25 November in the International Departure Lounge, near the duty free stores. It will cover approximately 30sq m, with entry restricted to those aged 18 or over. Open from 05:00 to 22:30 each day, it will only sell Gamucci electronic cigarettes.

Electronic cigarettes are currently subject to the same restrictions as standard cigarettes at Heathrow Airport and until now could not be used inside any of the terminal buildings.

Gamucci Co-Founders Taz and Umer Sheikh said: “Heathrow is the busiest airport in Europe, with millions of passengers passing through each year from all over the world. The Gamucci Zone at Heathrow complements our positioning as a global brand sold in 55 countries worldwide.

“We are frequent travellers ourselves, and identify with the frustrations smokers endure when they are through security. We hope our vaping zone will offer an environment to satisfy their cravings. All of our products are non-combustible and allow smokers to enjoy nicotine without any of the by-products of combustible tobacco.”

According to Euromonitor International data cited by the company, global sales of electronic cigarettes are now worth US$2 billion annually, with the UK and the USA the two largest markets.
