Gerry Munday to retire from Furla

Gerry Munday today announced her retirement from Furla, effective 13 December.

Munday is one of travel retail’s most experienced and respected executives in the fashion and accessories sector, with a proven track record of expanding brand presence and reputation in the channel.

Munday commented: “It is with sadness and excitement that I will be retiring from Furla, so it is onto the next chapter in my life, wherever it may take me.

“It is quite strange after 32 years in the industry to be saying goodbye, but we all have to at some point!”

As Furla Global Travel Retail Director, Munday was tasked with growing the brand’s existing travel retail business and expanding into new markets. In seven years, Furla’s presence in the channel has grown from just 30 locations globally to 262 doors in 63 countries.

Previous to this, Munday was at MCM for five years as Global Travel Retail Director. Before that she spent 20 years at Bally, where she began in domestic markets before moving into travel retail.

From October 2016 to October 2018 Munday also served on the Board of the Tax Free World Association (TFWA) as Vice President of Marketing.

As reported, Gerry Munday is a candidate in the election for TFWA President, which takes place in Paris this Friday.
