
William Grant & Sons has announced a change in the reporting structure of its key Global Travel Retail (GTR) business unit.
Ed Cottrell, Managing Director since 2016, remains as leader of GTR but now reports to the much-respected and experienced Doug Bagley, President of the Asia Pacific Region.
As reported, Bagley assumed the Asia Pacific leadership role for the independent drinks powerhouse in May 2018. He has considerable experience of the travel retail channel, having been Managing Director of Diageo Global Travel & Middle East from October 2013 until late 2016.
Before assuming that role, Bagley held several leadership roles within Diageo including Chief Commercial Officer, Asia Pacific and Commercial Director of Australia & New Zealand. He also had experience at Unilever where he was VP, Customer Development in China, having held senior commercial roles with Unilever Foods across Australasia. After leaving Diageo be was appointed CEO and Partner of China International Duty Free.
Cottrell said: “The last three years have been very successful for GTR at William Grant & Sons, growing the business by 36% since 2016. Retail promotions such as Hendrick’s World Cucumber Day and Monkey Shoulder’s #mokimoki have won multiple awards and the team won ‘Supplier of the Year’ at the 2018 Frontier Awards in Cannes. Doug’s experience in this channel will be a great complement to the clear momentum already established.”
