USA. Dallas Fort Worth International has awarded HMSHost and its partners a ten-year, US$186 million contract to open a range of restaurants at the airport’s new Terminal F.
Global restaurateur HMSHost will work with Java Star and F. Howell Management Services to deliver a food hall experience, which includes the openings of local favourite Trinity Groves, Eatzi’s Market & Bakery and Cake Bar.

Trinity Groves takes inspiration from the West Dallas restaurant of the same name created by Dallas entrepreneur Phil Romano. An exhibition kitchen area will allow local food innovators to present their style and flavour, with a range of menu options from incubator concepts Souk Kabab House, The Hall Bar & Grill, LUCK (Local Urban Craft Kitchen), and Beto & Son Real Mexican Food on offer.
As at the West Dallas location, Trinity Groves’ concepts will rotate in the airport as HMSHost aims to capture the latest trends.
Eatzi’s Market & Bakery, another concept from Phil Romano, is a European-style eatery serving curated gourmet offerings. It takes inspiration from Italian markets and aims to offer the experience of shopping for and tasting speciality products.
Cake Bar features confectionery offerings from baker Tracy German, who spent over a decade selling cakes from her home before setting up at Trinity Groves. The bakery will also sell signature hand-painted Kate Weiser Chocolates. Counter Culture Coffee, a boutique roaster that is popular regionally, completes the bakery experience, offering sustainably-sourced coffee.
The development will also feature retail offerings, in partnership with Stellar Partners. True to Texas offers authentic Texas-made merchandise while 360 West is a news and travel convenience retail outlet inspired by 360 West magazine.

“We are thrilled to build on the robust partnership that HMSHost and Dallas Fort Worth Airport already enjoy,” said HMSHost President and CEO Steve Johnson. “We thank [the airport’s] Board of Directors for the opportunity to continue to innovate with some of the strongest airport and restaurant operations partners from Texas and beyond.
“Adding these new restaurant options will result in a bold new offering, bringing some of Dallas’ most exciting food into the airport.”
Gilbert Aranza, owner-operator of Java Star, and Frank Howell, owner-operator of F. Howell, are HMSHost’s longstanding Airport Concessions Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (ACDBE) partners in Dallas.
HMSHost and its ACDBE partners currently operate several restaurants throughout Dallas Fort Worth International, including Dallas Cowboys Club, Lorena Garcia Tapas y Cocina, Maggiano’s Little Italy, Beer Union, California Pizza Kitchen and La Madeleine Bakery.
