Marcolin has unveiled Spring/Summer 2022 collections from adidas, Max Mara and Swarovski through its licensing agreements with the brands.
A new adidas Originals range blends sport with street culture. The sunglasses collection includes a contemporary cat-eye injection-moulded style, with the Originals logo lasered onto a three-dimensional aluminium plaque on the temples. The style is colour matched with mirrored lenses and features sports-inspired rubber profiles on the tips.
Geometric frames and fitted temples, aviator styles and pops of colour on rubber tips are included in other designs, with the most sustainable sunglasses featuring injected polyamide from 99.7% recycled plastics. New PC green lenses contain an average of 60% pre-consumer recycled content and some Original logos are designed with a 3D effect.
The adidas Sport sunglasses range features frames designed to offer maximum ventilation, lightness, protection, fit and drip while lenses focus on activity, climate, light and visibility.
Collection highlights include a SP0029 wraparound shield design, ideal for any sport requiring special protection in all weather conditions. The injection-moulded frame features an innovative ventilation system of nine small anti-fog vents on the upper front profile to offer clear vision in any climate.
A removable front sweat bar further protects the eyes and offers visibility during tough athletic activities. The nose pads are adjustable and yellow photochromic lenses offer clear vision in any light condition. This style comes with a clip-on for athletes who need vision correction.
Other styles also feature the ventilation system, adjustable nose pads, interchangeable Toric and Vario photochromic lenses and Super clear coating which protects mirrored lenses from water, dirt and smears. Kolor Up sun lenses, to reduce light intensity and enhance colour perception, are included in some models.
Following a global rebrand earlier this year, Swarovski eyewear through Marcolin presents a refreshed line-up, spotlighting new shapes and colours, with designs influenced by Creative Director Giovanna Engelbert.
“By expanding Collection II beyond the world of jewellery, we are able to amplify a sense of wonder for our customers with even more brilliant pieces to fully express themselves,” she said. “As with everything we create, these new glasses are designed to complement any look and can be mixed-and-matched with jewellery and fashion to support any style experimentation, in any wardrobe.”
Four aesthetics define the styles. Dulcis combines pop art influences with precision-cut crystal while Micro Pavé marries delicate stones with metal. Macro Pavé offers an “unexpected twist on crystal setting” and Octagon is described as “understated elegance at its finest”.
The sunglasses collection highlights include Dulcis SK0335 with mirror-finish lenses and frames in gold tone and pink colourways complemented by oversized temples with the Swarovski logo. Micro Pavé SK0340 oval pavé crystal sunglasses feature frames in various colorways while Macro Pavé SK0345 are octagon sunglasses crafted from acetate in colours ranging from classic black and Havana to a milky white. The frames and temples are adorned with crystals set in an oversized pavé style to offer a “modern twist on a retro classic”.
Octagon styles include the oversized SK0351, acetate frames with temples finished with single octagon-cut crystals.
The S/S 2022 Max Mara collection is the latest in the fashion brand’s collaboration with Marcolin.
The collection is inspired by three concepts:
- Irish architect and designer Eileen Gray, a pioneer of the Modern Movement, with oversized frames made from acetate and tubular metal. The designs are characterised by a lightweight feel and extra-large fronts.
- The life and work of Lee Miller, a model, a fashion photographer and a war correspondent, who was internationally renowned for her work during World War II and her portraits. According to Max Mara, the “contrast between the orderly contours of a determined and self-confident woman and the sinuous shapes of a sweet and gentle woman is epitomised by the prism logo on the temples”.
- #maxmaragram: the Max Mara brand’s monogram, created by celebrated artist and illustrator Erberto Carboni in 1958. It is revisited with a contemporary twist to feature on the new eyewear.
Collection highlights include sharp and linear-squared fronts in modern acetate sunglasses featuring bold profiles and laser-engraved Max Mara logo. These carry an oversize frame, with bold shapes toned by subtle temples and gold logo, while the “ultimate staple to enhance the eyes” is a rounded butterfly silhouette, with fine details on tubular metal.
