AFRICA. Lagardère Travel Retail has extended its footprint in West Africa with the opening of two new stores in Gambia and Senegal, with further openings to come in Mauritania.
On 3 December the travel retailer opened its first store at Banjul International Airport in Gambia, under the Aelia Duty Free name. Separately, the company has opened a Relay travel essentials store at the main rail station in Dakar, Senegal.
At the end of December the company confirmed that it plans to open an Aelia Duty Free shops and a Kepar Café outlet at Nouakchott–Oumtounsy International Airport in Mauritania.
These join Lagardère Travel Retail’s existing operations at Blaise Diagne Airport in Senegal, opened in 2017 and at Libreville Airport in Gabon, open since 2019.
