China supports travel retail growth: French company Lagardère Travel Retail’s sales reached €694 million in the first three months of 2022, up by +103.4% on a reported basis and +96.8% like-for-like year-on-year. Among its ventures in the Chinese Mainland, the company operates domestic and rail travel retail stores. It is also a support partner for Hainan Tourism Duty Free Shopping Complex in Sanya. Duty free boost: The Hainan Provincial government has unveiled a wide-ranging stimulus package to boost consumption and assist the island’s duty free retailers. Under the scheme ‘Helping Business, Benefiting People and Enjoying Hainan’, CNY20 million (US$3.02 million) worth of consumer spending coupons was distributed on 30 April.
