3Sixty Duty Free pays tribute to retiring Gary Pospiech after 50-year industry career

A toast to 50 years of service: Gary Pospiech with a special award from 3Sixty as he prepares to retire

USA. 3Sixty Duty Free & More has paid tribute to Gary Pospiech, General Manager of its Philadelphia Airport operations, as he prepares to retire after a 50-year career in travel retail. Pospiech joined 3Sixty in 2016 after working with several other travel retailers in the US.

The company said: “Gary has been an invaluable asset for the past seven years, leading our team in Philadelphia through the many challenges our industry has had to face, most notably the COVID-19 pandemic, to achieve many successes.

“Beyond his professional achievements, Gary has so endeared himself to colleagues and friends alike. It is no surprise that he has earned the affectionate nickname of ‘Mayor of the Airport’ among those who work at PHL. As Gary embarks on this new chapter, we would like to express our heartfelt gratitude for all his contributions and wish him a joyful retirement.”

Pospiech began his travel retail career with IDF Services (later Duty Free International, then World Duty Free Americas under BAA ownership, and acquired by the Falic family to become Duty Free Americas in 2001) at Philadelphia in 1973, starting part-time in the warehouse before being promoted to management.

He was involved with the same retailer’s operations at Houston Airport, before moving to New York JFK in 1983, where he oversaw multiple locations before leaving and moving back to Philadelphia in 1988 to work with US Airways.

In January 2003 Pospiech became General Manager Philadelphia for International Shoppes, before joining 3Sixty as it took over the airport duty free contract.

The Moodie Davitt Report joins 3Sixty and Gary’s many other industry friends and colleagues in wishing him a happy and fulfilling retirement. ✈
