On Location: Chanel celebrates 31 Le Rouge lipstick line with VIP London event

Lipstick for life: Comprising 12 satin shades, the 31 Le Rouge collection is the first Chanel lipstick line to feature a refillable glass case

Luxury house Chanel celebrated the launch of the 31 Le Rouge Lipstick line with a VIP event held at its flagship boutique in New Bond Street on 27 September. The event featured two Chanel Makeup Experts who helped guests find their perfect lipstick shades from the range.

The Moodie Davitt Report was on location for the exclusive event, which transformed the top floor of the boutique into an immersive 31 Le Rouge experience. A mirrored tunnel and walls paid homage to the staircase in Gabrielle Chanel’s personal residence at 31 Rue Cambon in Paris.

In UK travel retail, 31 Le Rouge is exclusively available with Dufry (soon to be Avolta) in Heathrow Airport. It will also roll out in key airport locations around the world.

The collection offers 12 satin shades, ranging from garnet to fuchsia to crimson, all inspired by different archival fashion pieces from the brand.

Some of the shades have been inspired by the brand’s signature 2.55 handbag and coromandel screens, which decorated Gabrielle Chanel’s apartment

The shades include Rouge Beige, Rouge Croisière, Rouge Roman, Rouge Flou, Rouge Premier, Rouge Imaginaire, Rouge Privé, Rouge Fétiche, Rouge Tailleur, Rouge Byzantin, Rouge Coromandel and Rouge 2.55.

Le Rouge 31 is the first Chanel lipstick line to feature glass packaging. Inspired by the mirrored Art Deco staircase in Gabrielle Chanel’s apartment in Paris, it was designed by Chanel Head of Packaging and Design Creation Sylvie Legastelois and is the result of four years of research and development.

Designed as a ‘lipstick for life’, the refillable cases are made with recycled glass and feature an all-metal mechanism. ✈
