USA. The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (MWAA) has awarded Fraport Washington Partnership (Fraport USA) a ten-year contract to lease, develop and manage the concessions programme at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport and Washington Dulles International Airport following an open tender.
Under the new contract with the MWAA, effective in January 2024, Fraport USA will be responsible for management of the concessions programme at both airports, including the planning, leasing, and construction and operations oversight of commercial locations to enhance the customer experience.
The two airports serve as gateways for the US capital, collectively offering some 260,000sq ft of concessions space.
Fraport USA CEO Sabine Trenk said, “We are thrilled to have been entrusted with this significant programme. Our team is excited to bring innovative solutions and a fresh approach to the retail and food & beverage concession programme.
“This contract underscores Fraport USA’s competitiveness and expertise demonstrated through successful projects in the industry.”
Fraport USA said it will focus on enhancing the airport experience for passengers by leveraging the uniqueness of this capital region.
As part of the approach, Fraport USA said it is committed to supporting small businesses from the region and the inclusion of a diverse range of vendors to cater to a wider audience.
Fraport USA is partnering with local minority business leader Dr. Gina Merritt to create Fraport Washington Partnership LLC.
Merritt has a proven track record in supporting underserved communities through real estate and workforce development projects, Fraport USA noted.
“The support, global knowledge and expertise that are integrated into the Fraport Washington Partnership LLC creates an unmatched strength for MWAA,” the company added.
Fraport USA is a wholly owned subsidiary of Germany company Fraport AG Frankfurt Airport Services Worldwide.✈
