CHINA. Zhuhai Duty Free Group (ZDFG) has secured the Guilin Liangjiang International Airport Terminal 2 departures and arrivals duty-free concessions, strengthening its presence in South China and markets serving ASEAN travellers.

The award follows ZDFG’s recent success in winning the arrivals duty-free concession at Jieyang Chaoshan International Airport.

The Guilin Liangjiang Airport departures duty-free shop will span 389sq m of space, while the arrivals store will cover 187sq m.

ZDFG said its new concession taps into opportunities arising from China’s recently introduced policy permitting the establishment of 41 port arrivals duty-free stores. Click on the image for full background from The Moodie Davitt Report.

Guilin Liangjiang International Airport is an important gateway linking Guangxi province with ASEAN and Belt-and-Road partner countries.

According to ZDFG, cross-border passenger traffic at the airport rose +69.16% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2026. Foreign passenger traffic increased +78.87%, while passenger volumes from Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan recorded strong growth.

The retailer noted the expansion of international services during the summer-autumn season is continuing to drive passenger growth and unlock greater duty-free spending potential at the airport.

ZDFG also highlighted Guilin’s status as an internationally recognised tourism destination with strong cultural appeal and an established cross-border passenger base, describing the city as providing “strong market support” for the operation of the stores.

The company said the concession closes a gap in its arrivals duty-free footprint in Guangxi province.

Leveraging Guilin’s location and tourism resources, ZDFG said it aims to further serve international travellers, expand duty-free consumption scenarios targeting ASEAN and neighbouring source markets, and build operational experience to support future nationwide expansion.

The retailer stated: “As we prepare for the new openings, we will continuously enhance ZDFG’s brand influence and operational competitiveness, as well as our capability to serve the nation’s broader opening-up agenda and the high-quality development of the duty-free industry.”
