INDIA. Premium Scotland-distilled single malt whisky brand Serpent’s Cask is set to make its global travel retail debut this September across key international airport hubs in India, wider Asia, the Middle East and Europe.
Serpent’s Cask is the first premium spirits venture from Indian actor and producer Naveen Kumar, more popularly known as Yash, who is famed for the blockbuster KGF franchise.
Joining Yash in the venture are CocoCart Co-Founder Arjun Ahuja and Voiceback Analytics Co-Founder Manishi Sanwal, who brings deep expertise across luxury and travel retail.
The initial travel retail roll-out will showcase the brand’s ready-to-gift selections spanning its Classic, Reserve 18 and Reserve 21 expressions. Distribution and importer partnerships for individual markets will be announced ahead of the launch.

He co-founded the brand following a two-year search to create a Scotland-distilled single malt that reflects his vision. Serpent’s Cask is positioned to appeal to a new generation of premium whisky consumers, offering a contemporary interpretation of the single malt category.
From film success to brand building

Yash’s move into premium spirits follows a career that has made him one of India’s most successful actors and producers.
Born and raised in Karnataka, he began his career in theatre and television before gaining widespread recognition through films including Moggina Manasu, Googly and Mr and Mrs Ramachari, the latter becoming the highest-grossing Kannada film (a reference to motion pictures produced in the Kannada language representing Karnatakab cinema) of its time.
Yash’s international profile grew with KGF: Chapter 1 (2018) and KGF: Chapter 2 (2022), in which he portrayed Rocky Bhai.
The sequel became one of India’s highest-grossing films and introduced Kannada-language cinema to international audiences.
Yash also heads independent production house Monster Mind Creations, which is co-producing Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups, set for global release in August, and Ramayana, with Prime Focus Studios, in which he plays Ravana, to be released in the Diwali season.
Serpent’s Cask is Yash’s first premium spirits venture, with the actor serving as a founder and contributing to the brand’s development rather than simply participating in a traditional celebrity endorsement deal.
Yash said: “I didn’t want to put my name on a bottle. I wanted to build it. For two years, we kept rejecting blends until one of them earned the name. Serpent’s Cask is for the ones who question the rules of how Scotch is supposed to look, feel and be enjoyed and who refuse to settle for what came before.”
The serpent, described by the company as a symbol of wisdom, instinct, precision and transformation across cultures, is central to the brand’s visual identity and storytelling.
Establishing a distinct identity in Scotch whisky
While the Scotch whisky category has traditionally been shaped by heritage, age statements and distillery provenance, Serpent’s Cask builds on these foundations with liquid distilled and matured in Scotland.
The brand seeks to differentiate itself through its positioning as a contemporary single malt designed to engage a new generation of whisky consumers, while retaining appeal across both established whisky enthusiasts and collectors.
A two-year journey to develop the whisky range
The range began as a journey of discovery jwith the founding team travelling widely, tasting dozens of expressions (young malts, aged malts, sherry-finished, virgin oak, single cask, multi-cask), searching for liquids that carried something most Scotch whisky does not.
Beyond smoothness and age, the team sought depth, precision and character they considered essential to represent the brand. Many expressions were considered but ultimately did not make the final selection.

After an extensive evaluation process, the team selected the expressions that aligned with Yash’s vision for Serpent’s Cask, with the actor personally tasting and approving each malt before adding it to the range.
The range is led by the Reserve 40 Year Old, a limited-edition single cask expression distilled in 1986 and matured in an American White Oak ex-bourbon barrel. Only 125 numbered bottles will be released globally, making it the rarest expression in the Serpent’s Cask portfolio.
The Reserve 40 Year Old also reflects a personal milestone for Yash, with the whisky distilled in 1986, the same year as his birth.

Serpent’s Cask Co-Promoter Arjun Ahuja said: At CocoCart we built a brand that took premium imported confectionery from a duty-free occasion-purchase to a daily-trade category in India. The opportunity in premium Scotch is similar in shape but bigger in scale.
“Yash brings the cultural authority. Manishi brings the trade architecture. The three of us came together because we believe a genuinely new single malt deserves to exist, one that doesn’t borrow its identity from anyone else, and one that we’re willing to give the long horizon it needs to do this properly.”
Serpent’s Cask Co-Promoter & CEO Manishi Sanwal added, “I’ve spent the last 25 years on every side of the premium spirits trade: distribution at LVMH, operations at Mumbai Duty Free, the P&L at Flemingo, infrastructure at Adani, and the data behind all of it at Voiceback.
“The single most consistent signal across that entire arc is that the Scotch consumer of 2026 is not the Scotch consumer of 2006. What this generation is waiting for is a brand that speaks to them on their own terms. Serpent’s Cask is our answer.”
Creating the Serpent’s Cask identity
The bottle was developed as a key element of the Serpent’s Cask identity, with months of design refinement and prototype testing shaping its final form.
The vessel features a metal serpent emblem applied directly to the glass, reinforcing the brand’s central visual identity. The serpent motif anchors the visual identity of Serpent’s Cask across all four expressions.
