The Skanner News, Sheridan Fruit Company, Market 503, Rose City Market and Cascade Market are all now open, each designed to capture what is described as a distinctly Portland sense of place and connect travellers with the people, stories and experiences that define the region.

The stores bring together well-known local institutions, established artisans and Oregon-made products, while delivering convenient retail options for travellers.

The five concepts highlight different elements of Portland’s identity, including the heritage of The Skanner News and Sheridan Fruit Company, the local focus of Market 503, the Pacific Northwest at Cascade Market and the city’s rose heritage at Rose City Market.

Port of Portland Chief Aviation Officer Dan Pippenger said: “PDX reflects our region with pride in everything we do. Our partnership with Paradies Lagardère continues in that tradition, connecting travellers to more brands and products created right here in the Pacific Northwest.

“We’re excited to welcome even more local brands with deep community roots to PDX.”

Paradies Lagardère CEO Gregg Paradies added: “We are proud to continue our long-standing partnership with Portland International Airport by creating retail experiences that celebrate the local community in meaningful ways.

“These concepts honour Portland’s heritage, culture and entrepreneurial spirit while providing travellers with engaging shopping destinations that can only be found at PDX.”

The stores offer a broad selection of products from local producers and brands, including Portland-made Pa’s Mushroom Jerky, a plant-based snack with a growing national following; Moonstruck Chocolates, the Portland chocolatier known for its handcrafted confections; and HAB Sauce, a small-batch hot sauce made in nearby Beaverton.

Other featured brands include Amity Artisan Goods, a community gift shop showcasing work by artists from underserved communities; Portland Bee Balm, which makes sustainably sourced products using Pacific Northwest beeswax; and Little Bay Root, whose locally made apparel and accessories reflect the independent character of the Pacific Northwest.

The launch also supports Portland Airport’s strategy of incorporating local identity into the passenger retail offer.
