CHINA. Zhuhai Duty Free reopened its Zhuhai-Hong Kong Port arrivals duty-free store at the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge on 16 October.
After relocation and expansion, the upgraded store features a whole new retail space, product displays and service facilities. These are designed to offer inbound travellers crossing the bridge a more convenient and comfortable shopping experience.

The revamp helps improve the duty-free retail infrastructure at the bridge port and supports higher service standards for cross-border consumption in the Greater Bay Area, Zhuhai Duty Free.
New space, elevated experience
The reopened store is located in the core area of the Zhuhai-Hong Kong Port arrivals hall for visitors travelling from Hong Kong to Zhuhai via the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge.

The retail environment is more open and adopts a new visual identity. With the expanded space, the retailer has broadened its product range to cover a wide array of categories including fragrances and cosmetics, tobacco and alcohol, food, digital products and health supplements.

Given the short shopping windows typical of port travellers, Zhuhai Duty Free has optimised its internal flow and checkout counter layout to improve efficiency during peak hours. This allows customers to enjoy a more relaxed and pleasant shopping journey despite the brevity of their stops.
Building on the existing categories, the new store adds consumer technology, toys and health products to its offerings. It also features a dedicated Hong Kong and Macau souvenirs zone to give shoppers more choices on their way through customs.
To celebrate the reopening, Zhuhai Duty Free has rolled out a series of promotions including spend-based gifts, member privileges and interactive activities.

Rising cross-border traffic drives upgrades
As a major transport hub connecting Hong Kong, Zhuhai and Macau, the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge is a key base for Zhuhai Duty Free’s operations in the Gre ater Bay Area duty-free market.

The Zhuhai-Hong Kong Port departures duty-free store opened alongside the bridge in October 2018. Since then, Zhuhai Duty Free has launched the Zhuhai-Hong Kong Port and Zhuhai-Macau Port arrivals stores, gradually expanding its duty-free network in step with the development of the ports.
Over the past eight years, new cross-border transportation policies have deepened connectivity among the three regions, driving more frequent cross-border tourism, family visits and leisure shopping.

Growing cross-border traffic has raised expectations for port commercial facilities and service quality, Zhuhai noted. The upgrade of the Zhuhai-Hong Kong Port arrivals store reflects the company’s active response to changing cross-border flows and consumer demand and its ongoing effort to raise port duty-free service standards, the company added.
Expanding the duty-free network
Leveraging its location and port resources in the Greater Bay Area over the years, Zhuhai Duty Free has developed a duty-free network anchored at key Zhuhai ports and extending to major ports nationwide.
In the Greater Bay Area, the company has been improving its port duty-free service network including Gongbei, Hengqin and the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, building a solid operational foundation.
So far this year, the company has been awarded 11 duty-free store concessions at key ports and airports. Among them, the Hengqin Port arrivals store and the Nanning Wuxu International Airport arrivals store have opened. In addition, the Zhuhai Duty Free daily consumer goods store in Sanya has also begun operations, broadening the retailer’s business portfolio.

Zhuhai Duty Free said it will continue to optimise retail space, product supply and service standards across its stores, unlocking growth potential at existing locations by improving their quality and efficiency.
The expansion and renovation of the company’s Zhuhai-Macau Port arrivals duty-free store is also underway.
This will optimise the outlet’s product offerings and customer experience based on the shopping needs of travellers, Zhuhai Duty Free added. ✈
