HONG KONG, CHINA. Plaza Premium Group (PPG) has launched Plaza Petit, a new concept that introduces dedicated play and relaxation areas for children at selected airport lounges and transit hotels.

The concept is making its debut in PPG locations at Hong Kong International, Toronto Pearson International and London Heathrow airports, ahead of a wider international rollout.

Designed with travelling families in mind, Plaza Petit offers children a welcoming environment to play, read and relax during their airport journey, while remaining under the supervision of parents or caregivers.

Supporting children’s learning and creativity, PPG has partnered with global education non-profit Room to Read.

The organisation promotes foundational literacy, life skills and gender equality, reaching children across 29 geographies. In 2025 alone, its programmes directly benefited 17 million children.

The partnership focuses on five key areas: read, play, discover, taste and relax together.

  • Read (Room to Read partnership): Every Plaza Petit zone features a custom-built Room to Read Story Corner. Each corner is stocked with a curated collection of age-appropriate, engaging physical books published by Room to Read in multiple languages, replenished quarterly. Young travellers can also access the organisation’s digital library, Literacy Cloud, featuring thousands of culturally relevant original storybooks in 48 languages.

  • Play & Discover: Young guests receive travel-themed ‘Your Destination Before Departure’ (YDBD) activity sets, colouring sheets, crayons and collectible destination stickers, encouraging children to explore different cultures.
  • Taste: A dedicated, child-friendly menu featuring balanced meals, specialised tableware, baby-food warming services and seasonal menu items for children
  • Design & Comfort: Built with sustainable, light oak wood furniture featuring rounded safety edges, child-scale seating and interactive bookshelves
Helping families make airport waits more manageable, Plaza Petit offers engaging activities for children in a comfortable, dedicated space

The phased rollout will begin in October, with the first Plaza Petit spaces opening at Plaza Premium Lounge locations at Gate 60 in Terminal 1 at Hong Kong International Airport, Terminal 3 at Toronto Pearson International Airport and the North Terminal at London Gatwick Airport. Another location will open at Aerotel in the Departures area of Terminal 1 at London Heathrow Airport.

Additional locations are planned in Dubai, Helsinki, Jakarta, Jeddah, Kuala Lumpur, Macau, Muscat, Phnom Penh and Rome. The rollout will continue in phases across selected PPG lounges and Aerotels worldwide.

Plaza Premium Group Chief Transformation Officer Mei Mei Song said: “Plaza Petit reflects PPG’s ambition to transform airport hospitality through experiences that are both thoughtful and meaningful.

“We recognise that family travel comes with unique pressures, particularly when children are navigating an unfamiliar airport environment. By bringing together play, discovery, reading and family-friendly dining, Plaza Petit helps children feel engaged and at ease while enabling parents and caregivers to travel with greater confidence.”

Room to Read CEO Dr. Geetha Murali added: “Every journey depends on the ability to read, whether following a departure sign or discovering a new world through a book.

“Through Plaza Petit, we are helping children experience the joy of reading while inviting families to recognise literacy for what it truly is: a foundation for learning, navigating the world and opening a lifetime of possibility.”

Each Plaza Petit space will include a donation point where travellers can support Room to Read’s programmes promoting childhood literacy and gender equality in education. ✈
