Avolta completes six-store Palermo Airport programme with powerful sense of place

ITALY. Avolta has opened its latest food & beverage outlets at Palermo Falcone Borsellino International Airport. This completes a new six-store lineup after the travel retail to F&B player struck a ten-year contract extension with airport company Gesap.

Spectacular Mediterranean views add to the lure of Avolta’s neighbouring AMORE café and restaurant and Planeta Wine Bar at Palermo Airport

The latest openings comprise AMORE Do Eat Better, a proprietary Autogrill café and restaurant concept focused on Italian cuisine and regional specialities, and Planeta Wine Bar, marking the Sicilian wine producer’s debut in the travel retail channel.

AMORE Do Eat Better features a menu built around regionally certified Italian ingredients and traditional dishes, while Planeta Wine Bar brings the winery’s more than 30 years of winemaking heritage to the airport.

The open kitchen in AMORE (pictured above) gives travellers a direct view of food preparation, with pasta taking centre stage. The concession’s café counter (below) features freshly prepared pastries, sandwiches and coffee for passengers seeking a quick bite and refreshments before departure.

Avolta CEO Italy Massimiliano Santoro said the openings further strengthen the company’s presence at Palermo Airport and its longstanding partnership with Gesap.

“By combining our global F&B expertise with strong local brands and products, we are creating a distinctive offer that reflects Sicily and enhances the experience for both domestic and international travellers,” he commented.

Gesap CEO Gianfranco Battisti said the new outlets form part of the airport operator’s continuing investment in expanding services and improving the passenger experience.

He highlighted the introduction of premium F&B concepts alongside the new Prima Vista Lounge as important additions to the airport’s offer, with a particular emphasis on Italian and Sicilian food and wine.

“Our collaboration with prestigious partners such as Avolta confirms the growing attractiveness of Palermo Airport and our commitment to constantly raising hospitality and service standards, in line with the best international airports,” Battisti said. ✈
