AUSTRALIA. Treasury Wine Estates has hailed the opening of the first airport Penfolds Wine Bar and Kitchen at Adelaide International as a milestone for the brand, and pledged to offer a “premium food and wine experience”.
As reported, Penfolds Wine Bar and Kitchen, in partnership with Emirates Leisure Retail, started operations at Adelaide Airport on 26 February. It is located in the new retail and dining precinct.
The company said: “The first Penfolds in-airport concept of its kind globally, the architecturally curated space delivers a distinctive sophisticated aesthetic and brings a taste of Magill Estate to travellers on the go. This complements the experiences on offer at the existing cellar doors of South Australia’s best-known vineyards, Magill Estate and Barossa Valley.”
Penfolds Wine Bar and Kitchen will offer a wide range of wines for travellers to purchase – from the Cellar Reserve and Penfolds Collection to selections from the Max’s and Koonunga Hill tiers.
Some special bottlings will also be featured including Lot. 518 Spirited Wine with Baijiu, Penfolds x Thiénot Champagne and Special Bin 111A Clare Valley Barossa Valley Shiraz. The food menu is based around South Australian produce to complement Penfolds wines and its ‘house style’, said the wine company.
Treasury Wine Estates General Manager, Global Travel Retail Simon Carter said: “We are honoured to launch Penfolds Wine Bar & Kitchen at Adelaide Airport, the first Penfolds in-airport concept of its kind globally. Adelaide is Penfolds home state and it makes perfect sense to extend the experience from our cellar doors to the airport. I believe this will delight both local and international guests transiting through the airport, to have Penfolds accompany them on their journey. Travellers can shop Penfolds extensive range of red and white wines, even special bottlings”.
