ASIA PACIFIC. Airports Council International Asia-Pacific & Middle East (ACI APAC & MID) is calling on consultancies and research institutions to participate in a comprehensive study on travel retail in the post-pandemic era.
Preliminary findings from the study will be highlighted at the Trinity Forum 2026 in Doha, co-organised by The Moodie Davitt Report, ACI Asia-Pacific & Middle East and ACI World, and hosted by Qatar Duty Free on 5-6 February.
All proposals must be submitted by 1 August.

The research will focus on emerging markets and key travel retail hubs across the Asia-Pacific and Middle East regions, and will analyse insights, including:
- Emerging trends in airport retail business
- Evolving passenger behaviours and spending patterns
- The economic impact of duty-free retail across airports
- Statistical analysis and trend forecasting with a comparative study of 2019 vs. 2024 performance
- Generational spending behaviours and the influence of technology
- The contribution of duty-free channels to airport revenues
This study is designed to generate actionable insights and policy recommendations for airport operators, travel retailers and regulators to enhance non-aeronautical revenue and support long-term sustainability and growth.
This initiative builds on the growing recognition of travel retail as a key driver of airport financial stability, representing around 47% of total non-aeronautical income.
ACI noted the importance of understanding emerging trends and passenger behaviours amid the aviation industry’s continued rapid expansion.
