FRANCE. Aelia Group has captured two key retail tenders at Nice Côte d’Azur Airport, France’s biggest airport outside Paris. The company has retained its fashion and fine food concessions in Terminal 1 and will continue to operate stores under the Hermès and Hédiard brands for a further six years.
The news follows Aelia’s success last year in the liquor, tobacco, perfumes and cosmetics tender at Nice, where the company will become sole operator of these categories later this year.
As part of extensive improvements to the retail environment at Nice, the Hermès boutique will be relocated, and will increase in size from 30sq m to 65sq m. “This will allow Aelia to offer a wider range of fashion items from the iconic luxury goods house, and to cater more thoroughly to Nice’s discerning customer profile,” the retailer said.
The existing Hédiard boutique, covering 180sq m, offers a wide range of fine food and confectionery from the French brand, alongside a complementary assortment of chocolates and food items from other suppliers. The store also offers a range of wines and champagnes.
Aelia Director of French Regional Operations Pascal le Droff said: “We are delighted to continue our work at Nice and sincerely thank the Chamber of Commerce for placing its trust in us once more. This is a great airport to do business in: the customer profile is varied and affluent, and a great fit for luxury brands such as Hermès and Hédiard. The continued backing of our brand partners has been crucial to our success at Nice and we are very grateful to them for their support.
“We have a solid foundation on which to build at Nice and every confidence in our team there. There is a challenging year ahead but this news gives us a great start to 2009.”
