The new store will be situated in a prime Terminal 2 location, directly after security.
The café menu – designed to serve passengers at all times of the day – will offer Viennese wine, 25 coffee varieties, savoury snacks and 40 types of cake. The venue is scheduled to open before the summer and will take the Aïda concept into travel retail outside Austria for the first time.
The 111-year-old brand, renowned for its pink-dominated look, currently operates five franchise stores in partnership with Lagardère Travel Retail in its home country, including two at Vienna International Airport.
Discussing the new Munich Airport location with The Moodie Davitt Report, Aïda Executive Director Dominik Prousek said: “The light-flooded and central location we will be situated in gives the feeling of a market square that extends around the apron tower and is somewhat reminiscent of the Munich Viktualienmarkt. A touch of Vienna in a delicate pink and deliciously fragrant goes perfectly with it.
“This is an amazing, super strong location within the airport, a highly frequented spot for those seeking quality food. We look forward to bringing our charming and courteous service, high-quality coffee and exquisite cake variations to one of the great travel hubs in Germany.”
Prousek, a fourth generation member of the Aïda family business, added: “My life’s goal is to represent the Viennese coffee house culture and our Aïda brand to a worldwide audience. The partnership with Allresto opens up another opportunity for us to get a little closer to this goal.”
Allresto Flughafen München Hotel und Gaststätten Managing Director Andreas Reichert commented: “We are thrilled to present the Aïda Café-Konditorei at Munich Airport and to offer our guests a piece of Viennese charm and culinary excellence.
“This opening enriches the gastronomy family here at the location and underlines our commitment to first-class experiences.”
