SOUTH KOREA. Experienced travel retail executive Allen (Chang Min) Hong has left Eugene Corp, effective 1 August, to pursue other opportunities in the sector.
The much-respected Hong (pictured right) joined construction group Eugene Corporation in July 2015 as Managing Director of Business Development, tasked with developing duty free and other retail opportunities.
Eugene Corp was one of the small & medium enterprises (SMEs) that bid for duty free licences in Seoul and on Jeju Island in 2015.
Hong worked previously for Daejeon-based department store retailer Hanwha Galleria as Duty Free Retail Division Director. Earlier he was Merchandising Director at Walkerhill Duty Free and before that Chief Buyer/Merchandising Team at Lotte Duty Free.
He told The Moodie Davitt Report that he plans to work with international brands intent on entering the Korean duty free market but will also consider opportunities with retailers.
