UK. Alpha Airports Group today announced the expiry of its World News concessions at BAA airports on 30 September.
The confectionery, tobacco and news concept has annual sales of around £27 million, Alpha said in a statement to the London stock exchange. The stores are at London Heathrow Terminal Three, Edinburgh and Aberdeen airports.
But Alpha added: “It is anticipated that the expiry of this agreement will have no significant impact on management’s expectations of profit for either this financial year or the next.”
It insisted that World News remained an important part of the Alpha portfolio and the company has long-term agreements at many UK regional airports. These include Belfast City, Belfast International, Birmingham, Cardiff, Durham Tees Valley, Exeter, Inverness, Jersey, London City, Luton, East Midlands and Robin Hood airports.
