Areas opens COMO restaurant at Barcelona Sants railway station

SPAIN. Areas has opened a 1,230sq m COMO restaurant and cafeteria at Barcelona Sants railway station, making it the largest food & beverage operator at the station.

The new outlet follows openings of smaller COMO restaurants in the La Selva and La Jonquera travel plazas.

The COMO outlet includes 78sq m of terrace space and offers four service options: cafeteria, self-service, grill and ‘Grab&Go’. The menu includes sandwiches, pastries, soups, focaccias, regional specialities and grilled meat and fish.

Barcelona Sants railway station is considered Spain’s most important in terms of customer volume

The concession contract won by Areas in April, to open two new F&B outlets at Sants, is valid until 2022. The concession totals 1,500sq m and includes the 198sq m Lavazza Espression outlet opened in summer.

Lavazza Espression is dedicated to Lavazza coffee and is said to offer a new form of coffee drinking.

Areas CEO Spain, Portugal and Latin America Oscar Vela said: “With these new outlets, Areas reaffirms its commitment to Sants train station. With these brands and renowned franchises, Areas offers a new, varied array of high-quality culinary concepts to take care of the needs of the thousands of travellers who pass through the station daily.
