NEW ZEALAND. International passenger volumes at Auckland Airport increased by +0.8% in August 2008 over the same month last year. International arrivals were up by +2.7% and departures down by -0.9%.
On a 12-month rolling basis, international passenger volumes were up +1.7% (arrivals up +2.0% and departures +1.5%).
New Zealand resident arrivals increased by +5.3% in August.

However, major inbound markets were once again mixed, said Auckland International Airport Limited.
Arrivals from Australia rose by +4.3% in August. However, these were offset by reduced arrivals for the month from the UK and US, which were down -4.9% and -6.3%, respectively.
Chinese arrivals dropped in August, down -24.8% due to the attraction of the Olympic Games in Beijing and limits on Chinese overseas travel during the period. On a 12-month rolling basis, Chinese arrivals were up +3.1%.
Reversing a declining trend, Japanese arrivals were up +5.4% in August, but on a 12-month rolling basis were down -7.3%.
