Pernod Ricard has launched Ballantine’s 40 Year Old Scotch whisky, with 32 of just 100 bottles allocated to Asian travel retail. The new expression is described as the pinnacle of the Ballantine’s range.
The first bottle was introduced at Incheon International Airport last month. It will also be available at Japanese international airports – including Narita, Haneda and Chubu Centrair – as well as Hong Kong International and Singapore Changi Airports.
Ballantine’s 40 Year Old, hand blended by Master Blender Sandy Hyslop, is presented in a bottle developed by British silversmith Richard Fox.

Five sterling silver elements – the stopper, collar, seal, label and base cup – are all individually hallmarked, while each bottle is engraved with its number and presented in a dark wooden cabinet.
The launch is supported in travel retail by visual displays designed to “echo the expression’s unique design and further reinforce its iconic status”.
Pernod Ricard Asia Travel Retail Marketing Manager Kyung Min said: “This is the most exclusive blended Scotch whisky from Ballantine’s and we are delighted to launch it in Asian travel retail. Ballantine’s 40 Year Old truly is a rare expression and will be of great interest to discerning travellers.”
Ballantine’s is the third best-selling Scotch whisky in travel retail according to The IWSR.
