INDIA. Bengaluru International Airport is casting the spotlight on children this month with a two-week campaign that aims to promote the South Indian region as an attractive destination for young explorers.
Kicking off on 8 June, “˜PlayPort’ is the first of the airport’s initiatives to deliver a new experience to passengers and establish itself as the gateway to South India.
Through the campaign, young travellers will get to enjoy a series of fun activities and visuals that showcase various art and cultural facets of South India, entertaining and educating them.
Activities include creating pen stands by painting pots with acrylic colours; learning to make kites, beads and key chains with names; taking photographs against monuments and scenes typical of South India; and creating etched drawings of monuments of South India. In addition, games such as snakes and ladders (measuring 40sq ft) and hopscotch will take place across the airport terminal.
And for some speed thrills, at both the domestic and international security hold areas, maps of South India are lined with racing tracks to operate remote control cars on.
The key attraction by far has been the puppet show, where traditional tales are narrated through this local art form. Open to all in the plaza area, the show is held from 5-8 pm daily.
The campaign is also an “excellent opportunity” for parents to spend time at the airport’s food & beverage or retail outlets while their young ones are kept engaged, the airport said.
