Champagne Lanson has unveiled revamped packaging for its Le Green Bio-Organic expression. It is now available in global travel retail.
The new design includes an informative back label that has been updated to feature more details on each wine, including the blend, dosage, harvest, reserve wines, disgorgement date and bottle traceability. It also indicates the specific terroir from which this confidential cuvée originates: The Malmaison Estate, 16-hectare pilot vineyard of the House. It is one of the largest biodynamically farmed estates in champagne located in the heart of the Vallée de la Marne.
The company said the updated look and product information is in line with the transparent approach it initiated several years ago.
Newly appointed Champagne Lanson Head of Travel Retail Albane Lussat said: “Our Le Green Bio-Organic Champagne has already been very well received in travel retail as travellers increasingly look for product with sustainable and eco-friendly origins. Our new label design is not only extremely eye-catching on-shelf but also provides even more information for the consumer.”
In 2018, the company was one of the first Champagne houses to offer the organic line in its permanent range.
The House’s winemaker Hervé Dantan created Le Green Bio-Organic, consistent with Lanson style while reflecting the particular characteristics of its terroir. This cuvée was produced following viticultural methods that are respectful of fauna, flora, soil and people, the company said.
It features a blend composed Pinot Noir (46%), Chardonnay (36%), Pinot Meunier (18%). The lack of malolactic fermentation, coupled with a low dosage, emphasises the original purity of the fruit.
These ethical and environmental practices have earned it the AB and Demeter certifications.
The liquid has the colour of gold and ambered shimmers. On the nose, it offers notes of blackcurrant and white-fleshed fruit such as pear and peach, as well as a hint of citrus, which open gradually into mineral, smoky and Eastern spice notes. It features great vitality on the palate, with flavours of ripe fruit such as pear, mirabelle plum, a hint of exotic fruit and notes of spice. The finish is long and fresh with profound minerality.
Lanson also said that Le Green Bio-Organic is free of secondary packaging and is produced in a more lightweight bottle. This is to promote local and responsible sourcing for all its packaging as a way for the company to support the local economy while reducing its carbon impact. ✈
