Chinese popularity drives IPSA opening at King Power Rangnam

Shiseido Travel Retail has launched IPSA’s first travel retail counter outside Japan, at the King Power Rangnam downtown duty free complex in Bangkok.

The IPSA counter opened on 1 April and follows the brand’s store debut at Tokyo Narita Airport four months ago. Further openings are expected later this year.

The counter features decorative plastering finishes and sliced natural wood veneer to create an inviting and warm space

IPSA’s latest counter has been designed with the concept of a “comfortable living space” by using the brand’s signature colours – beige, white and black – and non-standardised materials. A seven-metre curved backwall allows customers to access products easily. A screen of water projection emulates the IPSA Time Reset Aqua.

A consultation area allows customers to discover their skin type and receive tailored product recommendations via an online questionnaire and beauty advisors.

Shiseido Travel Retail Asia Pacific General Manager Kenji Calméjane commented: “We are thrilled to introduce our first IPSA counter to travel retail outside of Japan and expand Shiseido Travel Retail’s duty free offering. The brand, with its 30-year history, is already well established in Japan and China – but there is ample opportunity for growth. To open the brand’s first travel retail counter outside of Japan, just a few months after the successful launch of IPSA’s first in Narita Airport last December, is a fantastic achievement for the team.

“Ample opportunity for growth”: Shiseido is stepping up IPSA’s travel retail presence

“IPSA has global appeal, particularly with Millennials, thanks to its personalisation, minimalist packaging and simple, natural ethos on skincare and we have no doubt the brand’s momentum in the travel retail market will continue.”

King Power International Senior Executive Vice President Susan Whelan said: “It is with much pleasure that we welcome IPSA onboard. As a brand that is fast gaining popularity with the Chinese, who form one of our biggest customer bases, we look forward to working closely with Shiseido Travel Retail to bring more quality experiences and products from IPSA to our travellers.”

Shiseido Travel Retail will showcase two of IPSA’s star products at this year’s TFWA Asia Pacific (stand U9, Level 1).

The Metabolizer aims to counteract the effects of environmental stressors such as UV rays which can activate anti-metabolism enzymes in the epidermis

The Metabolizer (ME), now in its eighth generation, first launched in 1987. The Metabolizer was designed to condition and maintain the skin’s normal cycle of metabolism. The product is said to be effective in inhibiting the activity of anti-metabolism enzymes and bringing the metabolic cycle to a balance, resulting in dewy and radiant skin with a near-translucent glow.

Time Reset Aqua includes 1,000 trillion fine moisturising molecules

The series comprises 17 different formulae, each designed to address a specific metabolic condition as determined by the individual’s natural skin type and environmentally-affected skin condition.

There are five categories available: ME Regular, for oily skin; ME Extra, for dull skin; ME Superior, for skin lacking elasticity; ME Sensitive, for sensitive skin and ME Ultimate, for comprehensive care.

Each Metabolizer (Basic Care product) can be combined with a Customize Care product targeting various skin concerns such as dryness, dark spots, ageing and sun damage.

Time Reset Aqua, a best-seller in China, is a Customize Care product designed to rehydrate skin with a clean and refreshing texture. It features Aqua Presenter III technology, which delivers three moisturising effects to ensure long-lasting hydration and aid the absorption of other skincare products, according to the brand.
