Chivas Regal celebrates 100 years of luxury travel – 30/06/09

UK. To celebrate 100 years since premium Scotch whisky Chivas Regal first hit the New York social scene from Aberdeen, a limited-edition gold-coloured gift tin has been created exclusively for travel retailers.

Launched globally, the Chivas Regal Centenary Edition (pictured), featuring Chivas Regal 12yo, draws its inspiration from luxury travel cases.

The outer gift tin packaging features an embossed diamond pattern designed to emphasise its premium status and ensure excellent stand-out on shelf, said brand owner Pernod Ricard.

Said Chivas Brothers Marketing Manager Lisa Woodward: “100 years ago the first bottles of Chivas Regal hit New York shores and soon became the most talked-about and sought-after whisky among the social scene of the New World. The whisky’s appeal didn’t stop there and it went on to become famous for its rich smooth taste the world over. We’re delighted to be celebrating this centenary with the special travel retail exclusive Centenary Edition.”

The limited-edition bottle will feature a commemorative centenary neck label as well as a new back label detailing the Scotch whisky’s heritage.

The limited-edition gift tin will retail at a premium to the regular price and will be rolled out at London Heathrow Airport tomorrow (1 July 2009).
