Coach – whose new stores at Tokyo Narita Airport T2 are pictured here – is one of the most successful names in high-end airport fashion retailing

UK. Coach has announced the grand opening of its first store in London Heathrow Airport’s new Terminal Five, which is due to open in early 2008.

The respected US fashion and accessories brand said it will offer airport visitors “a unique shopping experience with a store dedicated to the sophisticated traveller”.

Coach International President Ian Bickley said: “The opening of our first location at Heathrow is an important step for us in implementing our global development strategy and raising brand awareness.

“We expect that this store will enhance our positioning and attract new consumers to the Coach franchise.”

The new store, designed by the Coach Architecture Group under the direction of Coach President and Executive Creative Director Reed Krakoff, will incorporate a number of unique design elements. These have been specially commissioned for the terminal and include art deco-inspired lighting and an exclusively designed marble floor. The new store will feature a full assortment of handbags, including limited edition collections, sunwear, watches, scarves and small leathergoods.
