MORE ABOUT COSMETIC EXECUTIVE WOMEN
Founded in the US in 1954, in France in 1986 and the UK in 1992, CEW, a trade organisation with a charitable arm, has pursued a mission of nurturing and recognising top executive talent – and raising money for charity.
The 500 strong membership of CEW (UK) includes executive women in the cosmetic, fragrance and hairdressing industries and related fields such as advertising, public relations, product development, marketing, media, finance, sales, retail, management and design and packaging.
CEW (UK) adheres to the three pillars of professional development, recognition and philanthropy.
The organisation’s aim is to help women network and raise their visibility within the beauty industry and, to this end, it manages a programme of events every year for industry leaders and celebrity speakers to share their incredible experience and insight.
The calendar of events has featured high-profile faces such as the Duchess of York, Ruby Wax and Liz Earle – this year Emma Soames, Jasper Conran, Elle Macpherson, Elizabeth Hurley and Sarah Jessica Parker have taken to the stage on CEW’s behalf.
In 2006, CEW (UK) will be introducing the Beauty Awards to recognise innovation and creativity in beauty products. Voted on by members over several categories, the winners receive the right to display the Beauty Winner’s seal at retail in a specially created promotional programme developed by CEW (UK).
CEW (UK) raises money for causes of particular concern to women, including Centrepoint, a charity dedicated to offering young, homeless women a fresh start, and the recently launched initiative Cancer and Careers, supported by Roche.
Cancer and Careers supports women with cancer who wish to continue to work. CEW (UK) has produced 10,000 copies of Living and Working with Cancer, and distributes this free of charge to any woman who requests it.
