SPAIN. Airport food & beverage operator Airfoods has introduced global franchise Costa Coffee to Barcelona El Prat Airport, marking the brand’s Spanish market debut.
The 180sq m flagship store, located at the Terminal 1 northern terrace, joins the terminal’s 44 retail outlets and 32 restaurants.

According to Costa Coffee European Franchise Director Ralph Llanwarne, the chain’s priority in Spain will be gaining visibility in travel structures before investing in the street market.
Airfoods, a Grupo Enasui subsidiary, will open its next Costa Coffee at Alicante El Altet Airport.

Airfoods manages three other F&B activities at El Prat, two Lizarran tapas bars and one APTC Comete El Mundo full service restaurant (both licensed by Comess Group). It also has four locations at Alicante El Altet (three Farggi ice cream/bars and a multi-unit restaurant called The Air Food Court) and one Subway at Murcia San Javier.
Costa Coffee in Europe has approximately 1,800 locations in 17 markets. Last year the brand entered the French market with its Paris flagship at Gare de Lyon developed in partnership with Elior.
