Coty Prestige is smitten with new Lovestruck Vera Wang scent

INTERNATIONAL. Coty Prestige has introduced a new feminine fragrance, called Lovestruck, from the house of Vera Wang. It begins its international roll-out this month.

The scent was inspired by a modern-day twist on the story of Romeo & Juliet, according to the brand. It aims to capture the feeling of being struck by love and captivated by an irresistible romance. “Lovestruck is about the emotion and rush you feel when you are falling in love and going for it”¦those heart-pounding moments of spontaneity,” explained the designer.

The floral juice was composed by Givaudan’s Stephen Nilsen, in collaboration with Doreen Bolhoffer. It opens on notes of pink guava, angelica flower and mandarin, building to a heart of tuberose and lotus blossom. The base is a blend of woods and musk.

The fragrance flacon is square-shaped, topped with an oversized cap decorated with a bouquet of flowers and a tulle bow, in a nod to Wang’s iconic fashion. The fragrance name, bisected with a Cupid-style arrow, adorns the front. The colour scheme is a mix of raspberry, hot pink and deep berry tones.

The advertising visual is set in downtown New York, and features Gossip Girl’s Leighton Meester in a couture Wang gown, leaning over a fire escape to greet her bouquet-bearing “Romeo”.

The full Vera Wang Lovestruck line comprises 30ml, 50ml and 100ml edp sprays, a 150ml body lotion and a 150ml shower gel. The recommended domestic price points range from US$40 to US$78.
