CYPRUS. Cyprus Duty Free has launched its own honey brand in stores at Larnaca and Pafos airports. The company hailed the move as supporting the local bee population and helping to enhance Cyprus’s biodiversity.
The project began earlier this year when Cyprus Duty Free embarked on its ‘Adopt a Hive’ initiative, partnering with local bee farm Oros Machairas to adopt four working hives.
Over 50 colleagues from Cyprus Duty Free visited the Oros Machairas bee farm where they explored the art of beekeeping and learned about the wide-reaching environmental impact of the world’s most powerful pollinators. This partnership came as part of continued efforts by Cyprus Duty Free to elevate its ESG efforts in line with ARI’s broader ESG strategy, Journey with Purpose.

Since April, the adopted hives have so far pollinated an estimated nine billion flowers across Cyprus.
The latest phase features the launch of Cyprus Duty Free honey, produced by those hives at Oros Machairas. Jars of the premium, locally produced honey are available while stocks last.
Cyprus Duty Free Sustainability Officer and ARI ESG Champion Antigoni Pafiti said, “This partnership is very special to the team here at Cyprus Duty Free, allowing us to create a real and positive environmental impact while also involving passengers in our ESG journey. The end result is not only a beautiful, bespoke product for Cyprus Duty Free, but also a meaningful and long-lasting impact on local biodiversity.” ✈
