DKNY has extended its Delicious fragrance franchise with a new trio. The Sweet Delicious Collection will be available for a limited time in travel retail doors in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and the Americas from February, and in Asia from April.

In line with the fragrances’ food-inspired composition, pastry chef and confectioner Johnny Iuzzini has created a special cupcake that pays tribute to the various notes.
“For me, the creation of food and fragrances are one and the same,” he noted. “Our sense of taste and smell are so closely linked. Once I studied these scents and the key ingredients, such as kumquats, orange zest and rose, I just knew I had to bring the delectable flavours to life and create the world’s first fragrance-inspired dessert.”
Iuzzini’s Sweet Delicious Cupcake is described as an innovative sugar-flecked masterpiece. It comprises a mini-sized almond cake infused with orange curd, piped with rose water meringue, topped with a candied kumquat and crystallised rose petals, then sprinkled with fresh pomegranate seeds.
The three Sweet Delicious Fragrances are Tart Key Lime, Pink Macaron and Creamy Meringue. As its name suggests, the first includes a sparkling key lime pie accord, blended with orange zest, bergamot, mandarin and neroli. Other key ingredients include basil, ginger, and violet leaves.
Pink Macaron – said to be “delightfully girly” – comprises delicate florals layered over a sensual creamy base. Nectarine, kumquat, pomegranate, a rose marzipan accord, woods and Tonka bean complete the formula.
Creamy Meringue is described as a zesty citrus blend of lemon cream, bergamot and a crêpe Suzette accord. The heart features freesia, plumeria and passion flower; the base wood, musk and amber.
In other news, DKNY has introduced a new travel retail exclusive set containing four miniature fragrances, said to be perfect for travel. The scents are: Be Delicious edp 7ml, Be Delicious Fresh Blossom edp 7ml, pureDKNY Verbena 7ml and Original DKNY Women edt 4ml. The coffret will be available exclusively in travel retail worldwide from February 2012.

Iuzzini began his career in the pastry arena at 17. He attended culinary school and travelled through Europe where he apprenticed in some of France’s finest pâtisseries, including the famed Ladurée in Paris. In 2002, Chef and Owner Jean Georges Vongerichten named Iuzzini Executive Pastry Chef at his famous four-star namesake, Restaurant Jean Georges, as well as its café, Nougatine.
