UAE. Dubai Duty Free has selected a point-of-sale (POS) solution from NCR Corporation which is expected to bring increased innovation and flexibility to the award-winning retailer.
“We aim to deliver a fast, flexible and reliable service to our customers,” said Dubai Duty Free Managing Director Colm McLoughlin. “After reviewing some of the largest manufacturers of POS solutions we chose NCR and Emirates Computers for their advanced technical leadership combined with their experience in finding successful retail solutions.”
The deal includes 180 NCR workstations as well as thermal receipt printers and bar-code scanners from NCR.
NCR Vice President for Europe, Middle East and Africa Alberto Camuri said: “Like NCR, Dubai Duty Free is an award-winning market leader in its industry. And, like us, they are always investing in the innovation that brings real and lasting value to the performance of their operation. NCR will continue to enthusiastically support Dubai Duty Free as it continues to expand in both size and reputation.”
Emirates Computers is providing staging, integration, installation, training and ongoing maintenance and support. Future plans call for the installation of an additional 200 complete NCR POS units for Dubai Duty Free’s retail operation in Concourse 2 and Terminal Three, which is the next stage of development at Dubai International Airport.
“We are proud to partner with NCR to provide this best-in-class solution to Dubai Duty Free,” said Haytham Kamel, Vice President of Sales and General Manager for Emirates Computers, Dubai and Northern Emirates. “We believe this project will enable Dubai Duty Free to reduce transaction costs while ensuring the highest level of performance reliability, creating a new experience at the point-of-sale for passengers.”
