CHINA (HONG KONG). Hong Kong International Airport liquor, tobacco and gourmet retailer Duty Zero by cdf has opened two new concept stores in Central and Causeway Bay. Duty Zero, an alliance between China Duty Free Group (CDFG) and Lagardère Travel Retail, is offering more than 600 fine wines, spirits and cigars.
With the theme ‘Meta-Sensations’, the new shops aim “to create unique spaces that transport shoppers from the bustling downtown area to wineries and distilleries in exotic locations” according to a Duty Zero by cdf statement. Customers can also order airport limited-edition bottles at the downtown stores. On-site sommeliers are on hand to offer product recommendations.
Duty Zero’s Central store is located in New Henry House, close to the Bank of China Tower and HSBC Main Building. The Causeway Bay store is housed in Soundwill Plaza, facing one of Hong Kong’s most popular retail attractions, Times Square.
The new concept stores are designed to be a downtown extension of Duty Zero’s airport location, with CDFG saying it intends to integrate its airport and downtown businesses under a single concept. The shop door design is inspired by boarding gates, symbolising the beginning of a “sensory journey”. The interiors feature retro décor and Duty Zero’s signature brown-and-gold colour palette.
Categories include red and white wine, Sake, Cognac, whisky, Chinese liquor and more. In addition, the Central store features a special zone that highlights rare wines and spirits from regions such as Scotland, Bordeaux, USA, Japan and China.
Highlights include: The Macallan Double Cask Whisky Range (12 Year Old/15 Year Old /18 Year Old); The Singleton of Glen Ord Collection (12 Year Old /15 Year Old /18 Year Old /21 Year Old /25 Year Old); Yamazaki Single Malt Japanese Whisky (12 Year Old); Hakushu Single Malt Japanese Whisky (12 Year Old); LVMH Vins d’Exception Limited Edition (2015/2016) and Château Lafite Rothschild Emblematic Collection.
To celebrate the store openings, on 3-4 and 7-8 October Duty Zero members can earn double loyalty points when shopping at the new stores or on Duty Zero’s eShop.
