Luxottica Group has appointed Enrico Destro to the new post of Global Travel Retail Director, with immediate effect.

Destro, based in Milan and reporting to Global Channels Director Alessandro Pozzi*, is responsible for Luxottica’s travel retail business worldwide. His remit includes the eyewear house’s dedicated regional hubs for the channel in London, Miami and Singapore.

Destro has over 20 years of professional experience in the luxury, accessories and retail sectors. He started out with Lidl, Damiani and Bvlgari before joining Luxottica Group in 2008. He holds a Masters in Economics from the University of Venice, Ca’ Foscari.

Destro was Luxottica’s Middle East Area Manager for Eyewear Wholesale, based in Dubai, before moving to London as EMEA Travel Retail Director for over five years. Most recently he held the position of Head of Boutiques Channel, leading Luxottica’s licensed brands’ boutiques business worldwide.

Travel retail is a key strategic channel for Luxottica. Destro is tasked with enhancing the company’s partnerships with key industry stakeholders to drive growth across Luxottica’s portfolio of brands, as well as the total sunglasses category.

“Returning to the travel retail channel, Enrico is inheriting a business unit with excellent foundations, a strong pipeline of innovation and a very passionate international team,” the company said.

*Footnote: The appointment follows soon after the naming of Alessandro Pozzi as Luxottica Head of Global Channel. He oversees travel retail, department stores, license boutiques and the development of the Sunglass Hut brand in airports and department stores worldwide. Pozzi replaced Francis Gros, who assumed a new role as Head of EMEA at Ermenegildo Zegna Group.
