GERMANY. Fraport has added further diversity to its food & beverage offer at Frankfurt Airport Terminal 2 with the opening of three new outlets.
They are MoschMosch, a Japanese noodle bar synonymous with light, low-fat cuisine; coffee outlet Starbucks and lifestyle dining concept Long Island Air Lounge.
Fraport said: “Terminal 2 is a multi-cultural meeting point that accommodates a high share of international airlines and flights to the USA, Europe, the United Arab Emirates, Hong Kong, Australia, South Korea and Japan.
“The challenge for gastronomy planning was to cater optimally to the tastes and habits of this heterogeneous international target group of nearly three million departing passengers per year (2009), who spend an average of two-and-a-half hours at the airport.”
Mark Hallstein and Melanie Wagner, who manage the Food & Beverage section of Fraport’s Retail segment, selected two well-known and successful concepts – Starbucks and MoschMosch.
These outlets now complete the E-Gate side of the new marketplace opened recently directly after passport control on level three of Terminal 2. Concepts already implemented on the opposite side of the marketplace, leading toward the D Gates, include Burger King and the Sense of Taste, a fine dining restaurant.
In addition, a local operator has launched the Long Island Air Lounge bar/lounge concept at the centre of the marketplace.

With its focus on light, tasty food, MoschMosch offers the ideal cuisine before a long-haul flight |
MoschMosch
The Japanese noodle bar with its light, low-fat Asian cuisine, using only the freshest and healthy top-quality ingredients, offers the ideal cuisine before a long-haul flight, Fraport said.
With names like “˜Flights of Fancy’, “˜Peace of Mind’ or “˜Happiness’, the typical Japanese “˜Ramen’ noodle dishes promise relaxation.
The restaurant features high ceilings, bright rooms and large, square pale oak tables as the visual centrepiece – all designed to create an inviting and relaxing atmosphere. Large glass walls, afford travellers a view of the T2 Check-in Hall below.
On the opposite side, the restaurant is open to the main passenger flow routes toward the terminal gate areas.

Starbucks is already a proven winner at Frankfurt Airport Terminal 1 |
Starbucks
Adjacent to MoschMosch is the new 120sq m Starbucks – the second at Frankfurt Airport. The success of the highly frequented, popular coffeehouse in Terminal 1’s Shopping Avenue was so convincing that the concept was duplicated in Terminal 2.

Focus on lifestyle: The Long Island Air Lounge allows passengers the chance to unwind and relax |
Long Island Air Lounge
The Long Island Air Lounge opened at a prominent location in the heart of the airside marketplace. Located beyond the control point in Terminal 2, it is accessible only for passengers holding a valid flight ticket.
The concept was designed by Frankfurt’s lifestyle caterers Gatzias, Ardi Goldman and Markus Spengler, who are known for unusual and successful catering outlets such as “˜Das Leben ist schön’ (Life is Beautiful), located amidst Frankfurt’s agency scenery at Hanauer Landstrasse, or the Long Island Summer Lounge beach club on the rooftop of the Frankfurt stock exchange parking garage.
The Long Island Air Lounge in Terminal 2 offers passengers a wide selection of choice wines, cocktails and long drinks as well as first-class cuisine.
Seating at the bar as well as comfortable lounge chairs provide ample opportunity to unwind and relax.
