Fresh retail and F&B concepts to the fore as new concourse revealed at Bradley International Airport

USA. Bradley International Airport has reached a milestone in its multi-year terminal expansion programme with the completion of a new concourse designed to elevate the passenger experience, including the introduction of new retail and food & beverage options.

The concourse at Connecticut’s busiest and largest airport, an extension of Terminal A, will begin welcoming passengers in the coming weeks.

Passenger experience was a top priority for the airport company, with numerous comfortable seating areas among the key features

Located directly behind the on-airport Sheraton Hotel, the 80,000sq m facility adds three new airline gates.

Customer experience is central to the design of the new concourse, with a strong focus on comfort, convenience and modern amenities.

Passengers will encounter new dining and retail offers alongside upgraded seating with integrated power access, modernised restrooms featuring privacy stalls, occupancy sensors, luggage storage and contemporary finishes.

Ahead of the concourse’s official opening to passengers, stakeholders gathered for a ribbon-cutting ceremony

There are also enhanced facilities for families, including an additional family restroom.

The concourse sits above Bradley’s new inline baggage screening system, which opened in autumn 2025 and forms part of the same development.

The facility houses the airport’s explosive detection machines and is served by a mile-long conveyor belt transporting an estimated two million checked bags annually from airline ticket counters directly to the screening area.

The relocation of screening equipment from the terminal lobby has freed up valuable ticket counter space, providing flexibility for existing carriers and potential new airline partners, the airport authority noted.

Connecticut Airport Authority Executive Director and CEO Michael W. Shea said: “The opening of Bradley International Airport’s inline baggage screening facility, and now the new concourse space serves as a capstone for the recent customer service enhancements we have unveiled since last summer.

“All of these projects position Bradley for future growth and will better serve our growing passenger base. We are extremely proud to showcase them to our passengers, local community and Connecticut visitors.”
