CHINA. Mr Han Shengjian, Director General of Hainan Provincial Bureau of International Economic Development (Hainan IEDB), is the latest influential addition to the powerful ‘Knowledge Hub’ speaking line-up for the inaugural Moodie Davitt Virtual Travel Retail Expo in October.
His speech, on the first day of the Expo (12 October), will be particularly timely given the intense interest in the current round of negotiations over the new locations to be granted in Hainan for additonal offshore duty free retailers.
Hainan IEDB is the official entity established by the Hainan government to provide one-stop professional service to global investors as the exciting Hainan Free Trade Port development takes shape.
A renowned executive, strategic thinker and decision-maker, Mr. Han has many years of experience in government service on a bilateral and multilateral basis. He served as the Deputy Director General at the Trade Development Bureau of the Chinese Ministry of Commerce for eight years and made tremendous contributions to building platforms such as state-level expos, forums, and dialogues to facilitate the globalisation efforts of many Chinese companies.
He also worked as a local leader at the primary-level government in Mianyang City, Sichuan Province, known for its hi-tech industries. For a period he served as a diplomat in the Chinese Embassy in Sri Lanka; as a key department leader in the China Chamber of Commerce for the Export of Machinery and Electronic Products; and as a senior manager at the Nam Kwong Group, a large state-owned foreign trade company based in Macau.
At the Virtual Travel Retail Expo, Mr Han will share information about Hainan Free Trade Port’s latest policies and investment opportunities.
