We look forward to further developing our successful collaboration with fresh momentum – always with the ambition to continuously enhance the shopping experience for travellers.”

Director Sales Western Europe Tobias Bechinger added: “Over the past years, we’ve grown together with a strong partner at Hamburg Airport. Now, we’re turning our focus to the future, aiming to inspire travellers with true innovation and new retail concepts.”

A diverse retail offer

Gebr. Heinemann opened its first duty-free shop at Hamburg Airport in 1993, coinciding with the launch of Terminal 2 (then Terminal 4). With the opening of the Airport Plaza in December 2008, the company quadrupled its retail space and inaugurated a 1,400sq m flagship store directly behind the central security checkpoint.

Today, Gebr. Heinemann operates two Heinemann Duty Free & Travel Value shops at Hamburg Airport. The portfolio also includes the concept store ‘Destination Hamburg’, featuring souvenirs, fashion, delicacies and Nordic gift ideas.

Additional stores include a Heinemann Accessories shop with bags, leathergoods, jewellery and watches, a Heinemann Sunglasses store and a Montblanc boutique. The retailer also regularly introduces pop-up stores from international brands – most recently Swarovski – to add variety to the environment and experience.
