BULGARIA. Leading global travel retail and food & beverage player Avolta has won its first food & beverage concessions at Sofia Airport, with three concepts set to open across more than 580sq m of space.
The company has also struck an agreement that will see it refurbish its Terminal 1 retail stores, adding a hybrid element to its outlets and increasing its retail footprint by more than 250sq m.
“This expansion in Sofia marks a significant milestone for Avolta,” said Avolta CEO North, Central and Eastern Europe Walter Seib. “By entering the Bulgarian F&B market and enhancing our retail offering, we’re growing our footprint and enriching the passenger journey. This is a proud moment for our local team and a meaningful step forward for Avolta in Southeast Europe, bringing Bulgaria’s local flavours into Vasil Levski Sofia Airport, creating spaces that feel rooted in culture.”

“We are delighted to expand our partnership with Avolta as part of our ongoing transformation of Sofia’s airport”, said Jesus Caballero, CEO of SOF Connect, the airport operator. “The introduction of new, high-quality F&B concepts and the upgraded retail space bring a fresh, modern experience for our passengers combining global standards with local authenticity. This collaboration reflects our shared ambition to deliver a vibrant, customer-centric airport that truly represents the best of Bulgaria to the world.”
In the past year, Avolta has opened three retail locations at Sofia Airport Terminal 2, including a near 2,000sq m duty-free store. ✈
