
Harper Dennis Hobbs (HDH) has been appointed by beauty technology company Beauty by Holition to launch its virtual try-on experience into global travel retail.
Powered by AI and augmented reality technology, Beauty by Holition’s virtual try-on and diagnostics tool is a cosmetics solution that offers an elevated and contactless beauty shopping experience.
It has been equipped with the beauty tech company’s patented ‘Face by Holition’ technology. The technology leverages distinctive image-processing and machine-learning algorithms to enable ultra-fast and accurate real-time face tracking and makeup visualisation.
The technology was designed to adapt to any face and skin tone, enabling customers to virtually try on ten different types of beauty products. The tool is calibrated and modified by colour, opacity, shine, undertone and overtone.

Beauty by Holition’s virtual try-on tool seeks to enhance the beauty shopping experience across airports, inflight, cruise and downtown duty free.
The tool has already been adopted by brands such as Kiko Milano, Charlotte Tilbury, Maxfactor and Rimmel, which HDH claims have increased sales and visibility thanks to the integration of Beauty by Holition’s technology.


Commenting on the tool’s contactless appeal, Black added: “Due to the impact of COVID-19 on consumer shopping habits, people may not feel comfortable testing cosmetics in the same way that they did previously. This technology is the ideal way to interact with consumers before they fly by enabling them to have the confidence to click and collect while also engaging them in-store.
“Consumers will be able to test the cosmetics on their own devices or through the use of in-store tablets, while the staff will still be able to help, inform and share brand knowledge.”
