AUSTRIA. Gebr Heinemann has announced that Ernest Gabmann, member of the Management Board of Flughafen Wien AG, and company owner Gunnar Heinemann have inaugurated the new Heinemann Duty Free shops at Vienna Airport.
Passengers visiting the stores – where Heinemann’s name shines out in blue, red and silver above the entrances – can look forward to international branded goods and Austrian specialities at low prices as well as a range of new services, the German travel retailer said.
“We are giving duty free a face. By pledging our family name, we aim to gain the trust of our customers,” explained Gunnar Heinemann. In future, Gebr Heinemann’s presence will be extended to the new Skylink Terminal, where the company will run shops with total floor space of around 2,000sq m: a contract for the retail premises has been concluded with Vienna Airport.
Said Flughafen Wien AG Management Board member Ernest Gabmann: “Co-operation between the airport and Gebr Heinemann goes back many years, so we will be delighted to bring our successful partnership to the Skylink Terminal as well. When Skylink comes into service, we will work together to offer passengers an even more enjoyable shopping experience.”
Important base for Gebr Heinemann
“As the main airport in Austria and a transport hub for Europe, Vienna Airport is an important base for our company,” continued Heinemann. “We will be investing €4.2 million in total and expanding our team from 130 to around 210 employees.”
Regional specialities are a feature of Heinemann Duty Free shops; Austrian wines will make up 95% of the wine range. In addition, travellers can place their orders online before going to the airport. The TÜV technical inspection authority has confirmed that passengers save cash on their shopping: 90% of featured products at Heinemann promise shoppers savings of up to 30% on both High Street and online prices.
Gebr Heinemann Wien GmbH has held the concession at Vienna Airport since 2003. The company operates 12 shops at the airport, including seven Heinemann Duty Free shops, its own specialist outlets and branded boutiques.
