Hershey World Travel Retail introduces ‘healthier’ confectionery snacks

Hershey World Travel Retail has extended its Brookside range of chocolate covered fruit in response to the “strong” performance of the brand globally. Brookside Cranberry is the latest addition to the line.

Speaking to The Moodie Report at last month’s TFWA World Exhibition in Cannes, Hershey World Travel Retail Team Lead Europe & Strategy Manager Amy Wilson described the Canadian Brookside brand as “one of the fastest growing brands in travel retail”.

Brookside and Reese products were among those highlighted by Hershey at this year’s TFWA World Exhibition in Cannes

Brookside pouches also include Dark Chocolate Pomegranate, Dark Chocolate Acai with Blueberry and Dark Chocolate Goji with Raspberry flavours.

Wilson attributed Brookside’s “phenomenal” sales partly to a growing trend towards healthier snacks in the confectionery and chocolate category. “There is a big trend towards picking up something that’s a bit healthier; dark chocolate and fruit are both popular,” noted Wilson. “We are really excited about this brand and its potential in travel retail and we’re looking at a lot of innovations down the road.”

Wilson said that Brookside pouches and fruit bars were “an ideal fit” for travel retail and duty free, adding that they were “perfect” items for queuing areas, both as snacking and gifting purchases.

Under a “˜There’s a Reese for Everyone’ slogan, Hershey World Travel Retail also highlighted in Cannes Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup Miniatures (milk and white chocolate) and Reese’s Dark Miniatures, which will be available in travel retail in 2016.

Wilson said Hershey World Travel Retail would be focusing on Europe and the Middle East in 2016 and expected to see growth in these key markets.
