Scotch whisky distillery Highland Park has completed the Valhalla Collection celebrating its Norse heritage with the launch of Odin.
The limited edition bottle is named after the King of Asgard and joins Thor, Loki and Freya to complete the collection. The 16 year-old single malt claims to reflect the complex character of the Norse god while keeping with the distillery’s signature Orcadian style of sweet and gentle smoky peat aromas. It features intense spice flavours of cinnamon bark and nutmeg along with walnut. The bottle also reflects the Norse God’s character with its dark and slightly worn design and comes housed in a wooden frame modelled on a traditional Viking long ship.
Highland Park Global Marketing Manager Gerry Tosh said: “Odin, like its namesake, is an intense, powerful and complex whisky. Bottled at 55.8% ABV, it certainly lives up to the legend, a bold single malt higher in strength than Thor, Loki and Freya. In Odin, we have been able to add the final flourish to the Valhalla Collection, a stunning series of remarkable whiskies that offer affordability and exclusive collectability.”
“Now that Odin has joined the ranks of the other gods in the Valhalla Collection, the first chapter in this series is complete. However, the Norse legends of old may still offer us future intrigues.”
Only 17,000 bottles are being released globally and will be available from specialist retailers as well as the Highland Park distillery and website for £180.
