USA.HMSHost Chief Information Officer (CIO) Sarah Naqvi has been named a finalist for ‘Chief Information Officer/Chief Technology Officer of the Year’ in the Tech Council of Maryland’s 26th Annual Industry Awards.

The Tech Council of Maryland – the largest technology trade association in Maryland – aims to develop strong technology and life science industries by supporting the efforts of its individual members.

HMSHost President and CEO Tom Fricke commented: “We could not be more proud of Sarah and her accomplishments as CIO. She continuously enhances the company’s operations through her innovative technology solutions, and I’m so pleased that she is being recognised among her peers for her accomplishments.”

Naqvi oversees all information systems for HMSHost in North America. She has been instrumental in implementing the appropriate technology to grow the business through standardisation, unified infrastructures and by maximising resources.

Since her appointment as CIO in 2013, Naqvi has redesigned the company’s network to increase standardisation and drive business continuance. HMSHost said Naqvi has increased server virtualisation from 11% to 94% in 12 months. Through the NOC HMSHost has been able to thwart threats and better manage its global environments, saving the company hundreds of thousands of dollars and moving support from a responsive to a proactive model, it added.

The award ceremony will take place at the Bethesda North Marriott Hotel and Conference Center on 15 May.
