Ian Macleod Distillers adds Key Lime & Ginger to Edinburgh Gin’s full-strength range

Edinburgh Gin’s new full-strength gin flavour is distilled with fresh key limes and ginger root

UK. Ian Macleod Distillers has launched the Edinburgh Gin Key Lime & Ginger exclusively with Avolta. The expression is available at World Duty Free stores in the UK and will roll out into the retailer’s stores in other international locations.

The new full-strength gin (1L / 40% ABV) is characterised by its “exotic but relatable flavour combination” and is the first pairing of its kind in the gin category.

It offers “a taste of a citrus cloudburst, through lush tropical warmth”.

The release builds on the success of the travel retail launch of Edinburgh Gin Strawberry & Pink Peppercorn in December.

The Key Lime & Ginger is best served with tonic and a squeeze of lime juice, garnished with a lime twist and plenty of ice.

Edinburgh Gin Head Distiller David Wilkinson said: “When developing Key Lime & Ginger, we were looking for something refreshing, that could balance the sharp acidity of lime with the warm spiciness of ginger.

“Key Lime & Ginger achieves this by starting with a refreshing bite of zesty key lime and finishing with tingling ginger spice. A warm but refreshing G&T and the ideal gin for a Gimlet or Gin Mule cocktail.”

The latest expression joins the range of full-strength gins: Rhubarb & Ginger, Strawberry & Pink Peppercorn and Classic; along with the three popular Edinburgh Gin liqueurs: Rhubarb & Ginger, Raspberry and Elderflower.

Edinburgh Gin Key Lime & Ginger complements its line-up of full-strength gins

Avolta Global Category Head of Liquor David de Miguel said: “We are delighted to extend our partnership with Ian Macleod Distillers and Edinburgh Gin with this exciting new and exclusive flavour, the perfect addition to our portfolio.”

Edinburgh Gin’s updated packaging will soon be launched at Edinburgh Airport, before rolling out across the UK and internationally. The enhanced design strengthens the brand’s Filled with Wonder narrative, and reflects the individual character of its premium gins, highlighting its commitment to natural flavours.

The new bespoke bottle is made with 49% recycled glass, which will increase as glassmaking technology allows. It includes recyclable aluminium capsules and fully recyclable FSC-certified paper labels, as well as recycled materials. All secondary packaging has been removed across the core range.

The travel retail-exclusive gin is now available at World Duty Free stores

Ian Macleod Distillers Global Travel Retail Director William Ovens commented: “We are delighted to unveil our new full-strength flavoured gin, Key Lime & Ginger, which demonstrates the flavour, craftsmanship and creativity of Edinburgh Gin.

“We are confident that Key Lime & Ginger will prove to be as successful as Strawberry & Pink Peppercorn, which was voted the Best Berry Gin at the Scottish Gin Awards in 2022 and is now being rolled out throughout global travel retail. It has quite a following, which I’m sure Key Lime & Ginger will replicate.”

The first gin brand to introduce flavour to the category in 2010, Edinburgh Gin is the leader in super premium gin in UK travel retail. It is set to open a distillery and visitor centre in the heart of Edinburgh this summer. ✈
